Fishing shirts. Yes, they are totally a thing in Dallas (and all over the South it seems!). And, no, I am not going fishing anytime soon. Let me tell you why my entire family loves a good fishing shirt and why they have become a preppy wardrobe essential in recent years.
Shop the Post:
About a year ago my husband went on a daddy/daughter canoeing and camping trip. When he got back he told me he really wanted a fishing shirt. My husband never wants anything, yet alone clothes, so I had to inquire a little further.
I soon learned that not only are fishing shirts wrinkle-free and quick-drying (great for the outdoorsman) but they are perfect for hot-natured guys like my husband because they have air vents in the back of the shirt with mesh lining. My husband now has several long-sleeves fishing shirts (he likes to roll up the sleeves) and that’s all he wants to wear on the weekend. To the pool, to do errands, even to a casual dinner.
Now brands are making these UVA/UVB-protective shirts even more appealing with cute preppy patterns. Look at these from Columbia and Vineyard Vines shirts available from Saint Bernard with free shipping over $49:
I’m sure my dad is going to be thrilled that I am posting a picture of him on the blog, but wanted readers to keep these in mind for Father’s Day Gifts.
These Columbia fishing shirts come in XXL for big and tall guys like my dad:
Note: Academy Sports also carries the Magellan brand of fishing shirts with UPF 30 protection which a lot of guys like as well!
This year I even invested in a fishing shirt. It’s so easy to pack and makes you feel like you’re on vacation all summer long.
And these Prodoh fishing shirts, which I have posted on Instagram, are such cute gifts for children when monogrammed especially. My daughter wants to wear hers everyday. It’s comfortable and cute and has UPF 50+ sun protection. These are stain-resistant, water-resistant, quick-drying, and wrinkle-resistant!
I gave the blue checked one to my nephew for his summer birthday. Saint Bernard will monogram in store for an extra charge if you live in Dallas. Otherwise, order online and take to your local monogrammer!
Here are some more Prodoh fishing shirts (and dresses!) that come sin sizes 12m – 6 years:
Columbia makes children’s fishing shirts as well. And there are some cute shops on etsy that you can buy one already monogrammed – for children and adults. (Tweens/teens wear the men’s size as coverups!).
P.S. I updated my Memorial Day Sale post with some awesome new sales!
