Over the past year I have written about some amazing companies who offer gifts that “give back.” Whether it’s to artisans in Central America or school children in Los Angeles, this post may help you find a meaningful gift for someone you love this holiday season.

August – Get 20% off with exclusive code

Not only are their leather totes, clutches, and wallets beautiful, but with every bag sold august donates a backpack to an underprivileged youth in Los Angeles through an organization called Operation School Bell. Right now they are giving DoSayGive readers an exclusive discount code to my readers with this link.

August also has cute clutches for under $40 with code! Free shipping, too!

Another fabulous gift is the Chelsea clutch/wallet.

chelsea, dallas fashion blogger,

The Chelsea is such an great example of the intermixing of thoughtful design and style. Pockets for everything and card slots that you can actually see! And there’s even a spot for my large iPhone 6 so I can grab the Chelsea out of my tote and use as a clutch for dinner. So easy!

My gray Chelsea clutch is already on sale for $298 (reg. $348) but you can use the DoSayGive code on the Chelsea clutch in Koi – it is gorgeous!

Original Art Calendar by Lauren Johnston Duncan

A reader told me about this artist, who is using the proceeds from this original art calendar ($30) to go toward their adoption, and it touched my heart. At $30 it is such a lovely gift (on my Teacher/Friend Gift Guide!) and for those of you who have struggled with infertility or have gone through the adoption process, it may hit close to home.

Ara Collective – Use code ARAGIFT for free gift wrapping

The beautiful and vibrant hand-crafted accessories by Ara Collective would make a lovely gift this holiday. 10% of the proceeds from each purchase are invested artisan education, youth academic scholarships, and health care for the Central American and Mexican aristans who make these beautiful goods.

“Thrill of Hope” Print by Bottle of Tears

For $5.00 you can give this lovely art print – with a verse from one of my favorite Christmas songs – to a friend or family member this year. I have had this on my desk this holiday season and it has really brought my thoughts back to what the real meaning of Christmas is all about! I have written about Bottle of Tears before (read the post here) but the owner (a friend!) uses this as a ministry to help the broken-hearted as well as to pay for her medical bills as she suffers from Lyme Disease. Today is the last day to order for guaranteed Christmas delivery.

Sparrow Project by JL Parish Jewelry

These handmade gold and silver charm necklaces and earrings not only offer encouragement to the recipient, but part of the proceeds benefit the Women Called Moses – non-profit organization that helps women and children transition out of domestic violence through education and advocacy. The inspiration behind these beautiful necklaces is the hymn His Eye is on the Sparrow.

On this same note of “gifts that give back” I love receiving cards in the mail that says “a donation has been made in your honor.” I know some people think that’s not really gift-giving. And maybe it’s not. But sometimes it’s the perfect thing to give someone who has everything or insists they want nothing.

One great organization here in Dallas is the Communities Foundation of Texas, which is a non-profit organization that has a “Giving Guide” in which you can select from dozens of organizations and schools. You can find a cause that may be close to the recipient’s heart and the Communities Foundation of Texas will send a card saying that a donation was made in their honor. Find the full list of organizations here.

If there is a company or organization close to your heart with a “gift that gives back” I would love  to know. Please share in the comment section below!
