Bottle of Tears: A Beautiful Way to Reach Out to the Broken-Hearted

Have you ever wanted to do something kind for someone that is suffering or struggling but nothing quite seemed appropriate?  Since the Christmas high is over (and January is a cold, dark month!), I thought now would be the perfect time to tell y’all about a company that is sending encouragement to our loved ones through Bottle of Tears.

But first a little back story. Bottle of Tears’ founder Lindsey suffers from a debilitating illness that for years went undiagnosed. There are some weeks where Lindsey can hardly get out of bed. But through the suffering she has to endure, Lindsey found a way to help others.

Bottle of Tears sends beautiful glass vintage bottles to friends who need comfort, encouragement, or just to let them know you are thinking of them. Inside each bottle is a little scroll with the Bible verse Psalm 56:8 which says : “You keep track of all my sorrows.  You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.”

I love this verse in that affirms that our suffering does not go unnoticed by our Creator, nor is it without purpose. Every drop matters, as Lindsey likes to say.

I love that you can send a Bottle of Tears’ vintage bottle to someone and you don’t have to really say anything (because rarely do we know the “right” thing to say to someone who is grieving or suffering). The delicate bottle and Bible verses speaks for itself.

By the way, Lindsey and I went to high school together. My husband has been friends with Lindsey since they were children and we both think so highly of her and her family. Lindsey “gets” suffering and is such an example of grace and kindness toward others who are going through hard times. Seeing what she has done with this little company, despite her trials, has been so incredibly inspiring to me as a wife and mother.

So if you know someone in your life who is dealing with grief, infertility, miscarriage or infant loss, or maybe is just having a hard time lately, remember this sweet little company that is sending hope to people all over the world.

Visit the website to see all the unique vintage bottles they have: www.bottleoftears.com. Prices start at $8 for a mini bottle and go up from there. You can also order beautiful print versions of Psalm 56:8, too.
