My favorite finds of the week, the fun surprises I got in the mail, what I’ve been reading, plus two popular gifts on DoSayGive’s Mother’s Day gift guide are on sale, including this family recipe binder that can be personalized!

Favorite Find . . .A  few weeks ago I was gifted a bunch of products from L’Occitane. Their hand creams make a great teacher gifts, but I have also really enjoyed using their Almond Shower Oil. The lady from L’Occitane told me to use it instead of shaving cream and, oh  my goodness, that was the best tip! The Almond Oil comes in a regular size ($25) and a pump that’s perfect for the shower! L’Occitane also has so great Mother’s Day gift sets  like this set ($74) that includes the Almond Oil – everything ships free, too!

Favorite Budget Find . . . A mom at my daughter’s school wore these sandals and  I was shocked when she told me they were from Target. They are sooo cute on and look much more pricey that their $26 price tag.

Best Thing I Received in the Mail . . . An array of adorable sun-protective Prodoh clothing arrived for my children this week. I have written about this brand before and was so excited to learn they have swimsuits this year!

Fave Deal . . . The Big O Key Ring (the best gift for busy moms and grads!) is 20% off with code BESTGIFT. Forward this post to your friends to let them know because they don’t go on sale often.

In honor of Cinco De Mayo . . . I’ll share my favorite frozen Margarita recipe! It’s actually the recipe that came with our Vitamix blender. Unoriginal, I realize. But, if you’re like me, you don’t pay attention to the recipe book that come with appliances. And this one needs your attention! You need a powerful blender to make this because you blend with the rinds on. Trust me, though, it’s delicious.

Recipe (just blend everything together!):

  • ¼ cups (60 ml) water
  • 6 ounces (180 ml) tequila
  • 2 fluid ounces (60 ml) Grand Marnier
  • 1 orange, peeled, halved
  • 1 lime, peeled, halved
  • 1 lemon, peeled, halved
  • 6 Tablespoons (75 g) granulated sugar
  • 6 cups (1.4 l) ice cubes

P.S. If you are debating getting a Vitamix, we have really enjoyed ours and it’s still going strong after six years. We originally bought it to blend our daughter’s homemade formula to be fine enough to go through her feeding tube. (It’s that powerful!). But now we use it for smoothies and cooking prep. I even grind up my coffee in it! Might want to drop a hint for Mother’s Day.

Article That Peaked My Interest . . . A Facebook friend shared this article about the photo that was shared of adorable Princess Charlotte this week. It’s about how the royals (and the Spanish) have tapped into something that many Americans have not: dressing children like mini-me’s or little rock stars makes it much natural for children to act like adults. She asks: “is it possible that in treating children like children – both in the way we dress them and the activities we allow them to pursue – we will better prepare them for a natural, responsible transition to adulthood some day in the future?” It definitely is something to ponder.

If you want to read more about the subject, I wrote about why I “dress my children like children” in this blog post. (Disclaimer: I am not familiar with the website on which the first article is post; I just thought it was an interesting read!).

Book I Started Reading . . . The Zookeeper’s Wife is also a film in theaters. (Have you seen it? Let me know if it’s good!). The book’s beautiful imagery and rich syntax is such a reminder to me that not only do I need to read my children beautiful literature, but my tired mom brain needs to be enriched and challenged, too (when I have time, of course!).

Best Weekend Sales . . .

  • Neiman Marcus – 25% off any reg. priced item with code NMFRIEND. How darling are these Tory Burch Miller fringe sandals. Think Mother’s Day!
  • J.Crew -25% off swim (kids, too!).
  • Emily Ley – Today only! Take 20% off the Family Recipe Binder on my Mother’s Day Gift Guide. I ordered one for myself a few weeks ago – it’s a pretty binder to store all those printed online recipes and handwritten recipes. Makes a lovely gift for a bride or friend, too.
It can be embossed with a gold monogram for a nice touch!

Don’t forget . . . To sign your husband up for DoSayGive’s Email  List for Men. I send it out 4-5 times a year (so they wont’ get annoyed!) and this weekend it will be all about Mother’s Day gift ideas! Sign him up here and be sure to tell him you did because he will have to confirm the subscription.

In case you missed them . . . Lots of great posts this week including: Six Amazing Gifts for Mothers, Anne Neilson’s Gifts for The Home (including the book I wrote about on Insta last night), and my darling ASOS off-the-shoulder top.

Let me know if you have any good finds or reads to share!

Happy Weekend!
