Men's Wardrobe Staple: My Husband's Favorite Dress Pants

Men’s Wardrobe Staple: My Husband’s Favorite Dress Pants

Wear

I love receiving feedback from y’all and one of the things often requested is that I do a few more posts on men’s clothing. So today I am partnering with Nordstrom to share the dress pants my husband now wants in every color. I persuaded him to take some photos after our family morning at the park last weekend so y’all could see them on a real person.

Don’t tell him I said this, but when my husband started off in the world of finance 15 years ago he dressed like an old man. An investment banking old man at the ripe age of 22: heavily pleated and cuffed pants, full button-down shirts, and nothing-slim-about-them suit jackets. That’s what men in the investment banking field wore at the time and he just wanted to look the part. And that he did…

But imagine this: the styles changed. And even the stuffy finance types started wearing slimmer suits and sleeker cuts in their (cuff-less) pants. Slim dress shirts became more commonplace.

But my husband didn’t get that fashion memo.

Or maybe he just didn’t care.

So even though he doesn’t like it when I spend money on him, several years ago (when I couldn’t take it anymore!) I started buying him more updated pieces for his closet in the hopes that he would lighten up his stuffy wardrobe. And a little bit nicer pieces at that. I told him that clothes are an investment after all;).

I’ve shared the suit and dress shoes I’ve bought for him. And he loves these moisture wicking (non-wrinkling) dress shirts (that are actually really cool so my hot-natured husband loves them during the hot Dallas summer).

Now I have found him a nice option for dress pants. They aren’t too slender for his build, but still have a modern cut. So both of us are happy. And he can wear them with his dress shoes or his cowboy boots (which he never would have done years ago so I’ll thank his Texas friends for that style tip!).

You can see really notice the high quality of the fabric in these close up photos from our time at Lakeside Park.

I bought him the dark gray color to start out, but now he says he wants them in more colors – so I consider this purchase a success!

Side note: we are lucky to have a Nordstrom nearby and they always do a fabulous (and fast!) job on alterations. If you have a Nordstrom credit or debit card, your alterations charges will be reimbursed in the form of Nordstrom Notes (which act like a gift card) up to $100. Having a Nordstrom credit or debit card (the latter which just comes from your checking account) also gives you early access to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in July which, if you’ve been following DoSayGive for while, is the BEST sale of the year. Check back here in July for the ultimate Nordstrom Anniversary Sale shopping guide.

Thanks so much to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post. As always, all outfits are styled by me and opinions are my own.
