I love dressing my girls up (as you know if you follow my blog) but honestly their preference when playing is to be in soft, cotton dresses and usually leggings, too. Like all of us, they like to be comfortable and cute! Some of our favorite casual, play clothes brands include Hanna Andersson, mini Boden, and, as featured in today’s post, Tea Collection.

Tea Collection is a global-inspired brand for children with bright, fun prints. I love that they design with sets in mind: t-sirts/coordinating shorts, dress/leggings, and cute little bloomer sets for babies and toddlers.

And for spring/summer they have legging capris – which my girls love! dallas, nordstrom, tea collection tea collection, pottery barn kidsMy oldest always has on her Yosi Samra flats – love these shimmery woven flats for summer! (These fold and are great for packing in ballet or overnight bag).

In fact, I sent one to my niece this week for her birthday – great because they ship free! The mini totes are $15 the larger ones are $35. Great solo or filled with some dollar store pool toys:

You can purchase Tea Collection on Nordstrom.com (free shipping/free returns) or also on Tea Collection’s website (they often have good sales!).

classic books, beverly clear 100th birthday, washington post, today show parents, classic books

In honor of Beverly Cleary’s 100th birthday there is a lot of attention on one of my passions: reading aloud to children, particularly classic books. Two things:

1. Yesterday I posted an article on The Today Show’s Parenting Board about how one doctor motivated me to read more to my children. (If you think your four year old won’t sit and listen to Little House on the Prairie, think again!)  If  you like the article, please click the “Vote Up” button at the upper left so more people will see it. You can read it here.

2. For my fellow classic children’s book fans, The Washington Post’s Instagram page is regramming photos and quotes about readers’ favorite childhood book and their favorite books to read to their children. This is a great way to share many of the books forgotten by bookstores and schools, but that are still quite worthy to be read to our children. Use hashtag #firstreads and tag @washingtonpost when you post a photo of your favorite books (and tag @dosaygive so I can see your favorite, too!).

Remember, you can always browse our favorite classic children’s books here.

Oh and don’t forget today is the last day to enter the Yeti Hopper giveaway! Enter in this post.

Happy Spring!

  1. Lee! Your post on the Today Show blog was SPOT ON! I haven’t found many other kindred spirits who are as disenchanted as I am with today’s selection of childrens’ books and always found that discouraging (and just like your kids, I have often noticed my kids gravitate towards the classics as well!). I haven’t been as diligent as you about reading our kids chapter books but am motivated to start now. For sure, we will continue to scour the shelves for the classics and got some great ideas for your lists! Thanks so much for your great post!
